Laurence Davies was born in Llanwrtyd, Wales's smallest town. Recently, he's moved to Scotland, where he teaches at the University of Glasgow and lives just south of the Highlands. In between, he's worked in London, Melbourne, and the Upper Valley of the Connecticut. Wherever he is, he loves to hunt mushrooms—and cook them, too.
He's written a biography, plays, libretti, and edits Joseph Conrad's collected letters. His microfictions have appeared in StoryQuarterly, Natural Bridge, Café Irreal, The Diagram, The Mammoth Book of Sudden Stories, and other anthologies and magazines.
