Andrew Bales’s stories have received second-place in Glimmer Train’s Short Story Award for New Writers and have appeared in New Delta Review, NANO Fiction, Midwestern Gothic, and elsewhere. He holds an MFA from Wichita State University and was the recipient of a Tennessee Williams Scholarship from the Sewanee Writers'’Conference. “I Am the Sea Captain, I Am Lance Armstrong, I Am Tonya Harding” was named Runner-Up in Beecher’s First Annual Fiction Contest judged by Deb Olin Unferth and will appear in The Way We Sleep, an anthology from Curbside Splendor.
