Visiting Friends Outside Frankfurt

In this village, the soldiers
exercise before departure.
They shall be dressed in sand.

Tanks roll by the little windows.
The menfolk continue talking.
There is wine today as well as coffee.

It's too warm for December.
When the sun goes down,
it goes fast.

I confuse the cream with smoke
and disperse it
by waving my hand
above the little pitcher.
